Christian Medical College Vellore was established in the year 1942 and is maintained by the Christian Medical College Vellore Association. It is an unaided Christian minority, educational institution admitting students on merit on an all-India basis. With 1528 doctors and 2400 nurses, CMC Vellore has 67 wards and 92 clinics. The college has 143 highly specialised departments, with the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology serving over 40,000 patients per year. The institution ranked third in the medical category as per NIRF Rankings 2024.
The institution is divided into two campuses. The main campus is located in Vellore, and the other campus is situated in Bagayam, which is 7 kilometres away from the main campus. CMC Vellore courses are offered to candidates at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The college offers 17 courses at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in science, medicine, and surgery. The CMC Vellore campus is spread over an area of 19 acres and offers students a variety of facilities such as a gym, hostels, laboratories, a sports complex, transportation services, banking services, a full-fledged library, a canteen, and more. Students can intern at the college and benefit from a dedicated placement cell that conducts annual placement drives, training sessions, and seminars, consistently achieving 100% placement rates.

CMC Vellore offers courses across certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate and doctoral levels. The college offers a total of 17 courses. Some of the popular CMC Vellore courses are MBBS, BSc, BPT, MD, MS, MCh etc. The college offers admission on entrance exams basis and merit basis. The college accepts scores from NEET, NEET PG, and NEET SS. NEET scores are required for UG courses like MBBS, which has 100 seats available.
